NOVA Scribes is a free and open forum for visual practitioners to share their knowledge.
We are anyone who uses visuals to move others. That is, graphic recorders, scribes, sketchnoters, consultants, trainers, and facilitators who all use visuals.
We're all volunteers: anyone who has energy around it can be an organizer or presenter.
We have organized classes, graphic jams, open spaces, working retreats, social hours, virtual working sessions, and webinars to share skills and learn from each other. We record our webinars and post them for anyone to watch later, whether you are a member or not.
It’s free to join NOVA Scribes. You can find us on Meetup.com. Some of our events charge a nominal fee. The value of presenting to NOVA Scribes is delivering content to a friendly audience and a recording you can use however you wish. The value of participating is learning from our presenters for a fraction of their usual workshop fees.
And we’ve entered into a strategic partnership with the IFVP: the International Forum of Visual Practitioners, where NOVA Scribes will be organizing and presenting IFVP Learning, the workshop series formerly known as the OLS the IFVP’s Online Learning Series.
So if you're interested in presenting a topic or want to be a NOVA Scribes organizer, let us know!
Upcoming Workshops
Retooling yoU is a series of online workshops to help you kick off your facilitation practice in 2025. Presented by me, Brian Tarallo of Lizard Brain, each workshop will bring you a different aspect of what it takes to build, launch, and grow your practice as a facilitator. We'll cover both facilitation methods and what it takes to run a facilitation business.
About Retooling yoU
I'm launching Retooling yoU because 2025 has seen massive churn and upheaval in the DC area. I firmly believe that when one door closes, another door opens, and this may be the time for you to finally launch your facilitation practice. I'm not charging for this workshop, but I will be inviting a "Pay-What-Feels-Right" donation during the workshop. To quote Reinventing Organizations author Frederic Laloux, "I cannot know what [this] is worth to you, so a fixed price does not make much sense. Pay-What-Feels-Right is an experiment in abundance where I trust that when I give, I will also receive. In my mind, Pay-What-Feels-Right is not free. It's an invitation to give what feels right for the value you've received and/or the support you want to give me to continue doing my work."
